Cotton Tenants: Three Families
Author and Pulitzer Winner, James Agee, presents a rare glimpse into the daily life of Southern tenant farming families in the Great Depression. Rather than cold statistics on poverty or unemployment, Agee paints a grim picture of three families. These families live on basic furnishings, modest meals, and ragged clothing. With gripping prose and humanizing photography, this is a good brief introduction to the Great Depression - Highly recommended for history buffs!
